V-Block – destroys viruses and bacteria on textiles

The technology of silver salt and lipid vesicles enables the binding and destruction of over 99 % of bacteria, viruses, and yeasts within minutes (test: ISO 18184 strongly antiviral / ISO 20743 – antibacterial). The effectiveness on the COVID-19 virus (Corona 229E) was successfully tested by the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity in Melbourne, Australia. Further successful tests were carried out on H1N1, H5N1, H7N9 and RSV. V-Block is manufactured in Germany.

Due to the antibacterial effect, no odours are generated on the fabric, so there is no need for frequent washing, a benefit for the environment. A washable FFP2 mask treated with V-block, shows a significant (>300 times) reduction of the virus infectivity (mist-contact).

The biocide for textile applications was approved in May 2020 by the Federal Office for Occupational safety and occupational medicine for Germany. The chemistry used is suitable for Ökotex 100, BlueSign and ZDHC in the approval process. It is registered for EU BPR, EU REACH. A dermatological test was without irritation. V-block is odourless.

A wash fastness of at least 30 washes at 40°C (ISO 6330 4G) is given.
