As part of the partnership Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens Energy AG, will be serving as the Chairman of the Advisory Council to the Munich Security Conference.

Climate change is one of the greatest existential threats to humanity, evidenced in recent years by an amplification of global warming, as well as increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters such as floods, fires, and storms. The urgent development and implementation of solutions is required before the economic, social and health impacts become too severe and ultimately irreparable.
Although progress is being made, challenges persist. Global energy demand continues to grow, and around 800 million people still lack access to electricity. In many cases decarbonizing solutions are economically still unfavorable. Energy security and access to energy need to be addressed, requiring geopolitical as well as technological solutions. But even as technology advances and interconnectedness increases, a range of new challenges emerges. With greater reliance on digitalization, physical and cyber security for energy assets is increasingly a concern.
As a global energy technology company which operates locally, we develop and implement country energy roadmaps and innovative solutions, which help nations and businesses alike to increase decarbonization, energy security and access to energy, leading to lasting social and economic growth. Our projects in Egypt, Iraq and Nigeria have and will decarbonize energy production while providing lasting economic benefits. Our advanced and new technologies, such as green hydrogen production and AI tools in the UAE, open new industries and provide new skills whilst increasing efficiency and reducing emissions.
We stand at pivotal moment in history to tackle earth’s existential energy threats. We believe that the challenges can only be solved through strong partnerships. The Munich Security Conference proves an excellent forum in which to build collaboration and develop a framework to create and apply the solutions to humanity’s greatest threats.
