Powerful new VidiNet options from nablet help automate sports digital supply chains
- AI-based routines dramatically speed up workflows in key areas for users of Arvato Systems’ PaaS solution
- Generating sports content specific to social media channels opens up new revenues for broadcasters, rights holders etc
The latest enhancements to Arvato Systems’ VidiNet cloud-based media services platform allow users to leverage Vidispine partner nablet’s expertise in automating digital supply chains with two powerful new AI-driven features of particular interest to the sports broadcast market; Shrynk and Heightscreen.
nablet Shrynk ‘shrinks’ sports content using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to detect highlights within certain sports and automatically creates an EDL (Edit decision list) or pre-defined length clip of highlights of an entire event. This dramatically increases turnaround speed and reduces workload in an organisation, allowing it to swiftly produce highlights packages or content for social channels.
The AI routines have to date been trained on five different sports — football (soccer), ice hockey, basketball, handball, and single-seat motor racing — allowing nablet Shrynk to recognize key events such as a keeper saving a free kick or a missed 3-point shot in a basketball game.
nablet Heightscreen, meanwhile, is an essential tool for generating video content destined for social media channels. It uses AI to automatically detect areas of interest in normal landscape broadcast content and generates a vertical 9:16, square 1:1, widescreen, or 3:2 panned version accordingly. This dramatically reduces the manual effort required in quickly prepping content for social consumption where vertical content gains far greater traction than horizontal.
Both nablet Shrynk and Nablet Heightscreen are available today as options for new and existing VidiNet subscribers. nablet is a German developer with a strong track record in the broadcast and media industry, whose codecs are utilized by many leading transcoders, including Arvato Systems’s existing VidiCoder.
“We are delighted to include these two new features from our development partner nablet as options for Vidispine,” Stefan Eckardt, Head of Platform Success within the Vidispine team at Arvato Systems. “AI-based tools are revolutionising many different aspects of the digital supply chain, and the fast turnaround nature of many sports use cases make them a particularly well-adapted solution for that market; both for existing scenarios and in unlocking new revenue streams.”
”VidiNet provides a robust footing for the complete content chain," sais nablet co-founder and CEO Muzaffer Beygrici. "Their clients count on innovative, reliable solutions that solve problems. We are happy that our AI-technologies in Shrynk and Heightscreen can speed up workflows by automating time-consuming tasks.”
