Industrial-grade DDR5 DRAM modules from Innodisk
Less than a year since the DDR5 specification release, early adoption should happen by Q4. "Our customers are excited about the potential DDR5 has to invigorate their application developments," said Samson Chang, Corporate VP & GM of global embedded and server DRAM business unit, at Innodisk. He added that "Innodisk brings quality products to the industry by introducing new DDR5 DIMMs with original ICs, anti-sulfuration, heat spreader, and conformal coating technologies with industrial-grade reliability they’ve come to expect from us."
Typical applications for DDR5 DRAM modules include 5G, deep learning, AI, edge computing, smart medical and supercomputing.
Innodisk is launching new industrial-grade DDR5 DRAM modules with up to 32 GB and 4800MT/s. The supply voltage has been lowered from 1.2V to 1.1V, reducing power consumption. Power management has been moved to the DIMM, reducing redundant power management circuits on the motherboard for unused DIMM slots. Another important change is the dual-channel DIMM architecture. With DDR5, each DIMM now has two 40-bit channels with 32 data bits and eight ECC bits each for the same data sum. Two independent channels improve memory access efficiency, resulting in higher speeds. The launch of memory products with DDR5 specification is scheduled for Q4 2021. All new DDR5 DRAM modules feature the usual quality standard with the well-known anti-sulfuration, heat spreader and conformal coating technologies. Typical applications for DDR5 DRAM modules include 5G, deep learning, AI, edge computing, smart medical and supercomputing.
