Pohl-Boskamp updates software for serializing its own branded products in the pharmaceutical field
- Arvato Systems is supporting Pohl-Boskamp, one of the leading medium-sized pharmaceutical companies in Germany
- Arvato CSDB handles complex processes for global serialization requirements
(Arvato Systems) Gütersloh, Germany – The Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/161 has been governing the protection of prescription medicines against potential falsification for more than two years. The pharmaceutical company Pohl-Boskamp has concluded a contract on 6 May 2021 confirming its decision to implement the complex requirements using the Arvato CSDB software solution.
Prescription medicines are prohibited from being in circulation within the EU without a unique QR code or a device against tampering. Corresponding measures enable medicinal products to be verified in terms of identity, authenticity, and integrity. The aim of the system is to prevent falsified medicines from entering the legal supply chain.
Pohl-Boskamp markets its branded products all over the world. As a medium-sized company, Pohl-Boskamp believes that the efficient and inexpensive maintenance of the system and the rapid and dynamic implementation of new requirements are critical for success.
Arvato CSDB will replace Pohl-Boskamp’s current heterogeneous serialization solution, which consists of various systems for different markets. The goal is to ensure the global marketing of the product portfolio over the long term. In addition to increasing efficiency, the company also wants to implement global market requirements for serialization, such as those in Russia, faster and at a lower cost than before. The Arvato CSDB as a service solution will replace part of the existing system.
Along with the implementation of Arvato CSDB, Arvato Systems will also provide Pohl-Boskamp with consulting services and support for the implementation and maintenance of the dynamic requirements at the global level.
“During our selection phase, Arvato Systems impressed us with its competent support of the additional benefits available through the Arvato CSDB solution and specialist expertise in global serialization requirements. We are looking forward to a successful, long-term collaboration,” says Ulrich Zinn, Vice President of Supply Chain at Pohl-Boskamp.
“I am thrilled about the new partnership with Pohl-Boskamp, a family-owned pharmaceutical company with a long history in Germany. We are very pleased to have this opportunity to help with part of the strategic adaptations for serialization, which will enable Pohl-Boskamp to position its product portfolio globally in the future,” says Pascal Leppich, Senior Sales Manager at Arvato Systems, underscoring the significance of the partnership.
