„Taking cybersecurity to the next level“

It seems everyone is talking about cybersecurity these days, yet many organizations still lack adequate protection against attackers. This prompted ITK Engineering to set up a new platform in early June that operates under the Robert Bosch GmbH brand name “The Connectory.” Some 75 ITK specialists and many other experts have come together in a collective called “securitynetwork” to help customers in the automotive, manufacturing, medical engineering, and other sectors to make their products and solutions more secure. These specialists analyze cybersecurity risks, design and roll out tailored security measures, provide other security-related services and conduct penetration tests.

More alarming news from the cyber-crime front: Microsoft reported that a massive phishing campaign launched in late May has breached 150 organizations in more than 20 countries. An email marketing account evidently served as the gateway for attackers to gain access to around 3,500 email accounts. ITK Engineering set up a platform called securitynetwork.one in early June to protect customers from attacks like this and continue tightening the security of their products in the digital age. As part of the Bosch Group’s co-innovation community The Connectory, this platform aims to help increase security in various lines of business.

Digital connectivity increases the risk of cyber attacks

Cybersecurity has become far more complex in recent years. “In times when more and more devices are connected digitally, an attacker no longer needs physical access to hack machines or vehicles,” says Martin Kröger, head of The Connectory Digital Solutions at ITK Engineering. Attackers learn quickly and adapt their strategies constantly, so install-and-forget safeguards no longer provide adequate protection. Cybersecurity measures have to be improved every day, staying a step ahead of attackers to remain effective.

Taking cybersecurity to the next level

ITK experts know from experience that many organizations still do not take security quite as seriously as they should to guard against attacks. Effective security measures take time and money to roll out. The effort and cost often deter businesses. Also, security is not as deeply embedded in organizational mindsets as it needs to be. Everyone’s awareness, from executives to the individual employee, could be improved. “This is precisely the point we want to address with our security portfolio. We aim to elevate cybersecurity to the next level,” says Sebastian Labitzke, head of the ITK Cybersecurity Competence Center.

Gaining the competitive edge with cybersecurity

Around 75 ITK security experts work on concepts tailored to protect customers in the automotive, manufacturing, and medical engineering sectors. ITK also collaborates with many of the network’s freelancers and micro companies on behalf of their customers. This frequently starts with a security check-up that puts a product or service through its paces. Specialists then assess risks, provide advice, deploy suitable security mechanisms, and conduct cybersecurity tests such as penetration tests. “Our customers benefit greatly from ITK’s cross-domain business focus and consulting experience in everything from automotive and robotics to building services and medical engineering,” says Kröger. All of the company’s services are very much in line with standards such as ISO / SAE 21434 and IEC 62443. The customer ends up with a standards-compliant solution that comes with all IP and source code rights included so they can continue using these assets.

Interested parties are welcome to visit the platform at https://securitynetwork.one to see ITK’s service range at a glance and get in touch with experts. Their mission is to weave cybersecurity into the DNA of the companies they serve. After all, enterprises with effective security processes and an established security culture stand out among the crowd of competitors on the market.
