Mindpeak and Crosscope team up to provide a digital pathology platform with integrated Artificial Intelligence for primary diagnosis particular in India

Germany based Mindpeak GmbH (Hamburg) and USA based Crosscope Inc. (Mountain View, CA) are now teaming up to deliver a comprehensive solution for digital pathology to be used not only in USA and Europe but also particular in emerging countries such as India  In India, a country of 1.4 billion people, breast cancer is the most common cancer type in women with still the second highest mortality in the world and therefore both the government as well as the private sector are undertaking huge efforts to improve diagnosis and treatment. By deeply embedding Mindpeak’s CE-marked AI software BreastIHC into the clinical workflow, pathologists can diagnose breast cancer patients quicker and more reproducibly so that the individual treatment can be initiated faster. “With our AI software BreastIHC now also available via Crosscope in the South Asian region as well as in the USA and Europe, we expand our distribution and are making a significant contribution to the AI-adoption of pathology”, explains Felix Faber, CEO of Mindpeak. Crosscope, as a leading AI software provider in digital pathology, wants to ensure that Mindpeak’s cutting-edge technology is available for the pathology community to enable digital transformation in the pathology laboratories in India & emerging markets as well as USA and Europe.

BreastIHC as the leading Diagnosis-Software is a plug-and-play solution that enables pathology laboratories to instantaneously detect, classify and quantify breast cancer cells immunohistochemically stained against biomarkers Ki-67, ER and PR. BreastIHC automates the quantification of positively and negatively stained tumor cells in order to provide the clinical score. A great advantage is its ability to differentiate between tumorous and non-tumorous structures, improving the scoring in the tumor microenvironment. "Extensive validation of our algorithm has shown its reliability under a wide range of laboratory conditions and customers confirm a significant increase in reporting speed and throughput“, says Faber. The fourth algorithm for breast tissue, HER2, is already available and will very soon be CE-marked as well.

Crosscope’s team will ensure seamless availability of Mindpeak’s AI tools with an integrated approach towards delivering support and training to the healthcare providers in the regions. "Pathology is on the cusp of digital transformation and Crosscope is very much dedicated to offer end-to-end digital pathology solutions to bridge gaps and usher in a new phase of personalized diagnostics. Crosscope is excited to team up with Mindpeak to provide their AI tools alongside our cutting-edge AI-software and collaboration platform to enable Oncopathology automation for our customers. Digitization of pathology is a key area for the use of AI-based diagnostic algorithms to speed up and improve the diagnosis making an impact in reducing India’s cancer burden”, says Jayendra Shinde, CEO of Crosscope.
