BITZER apprenticeship 2022 now under way in Schkeuditz: vocational training with future prospects

Specialists are hard to find, which is why the BITZER site in Schkeuditz near Leipzig, Germany, has been training people in-house for more than three decades. Eight young adults kicked off their career training with BITZER, the refrigeration and air conditioning specialist, on 29 August. And if they successfully complete their apprenticeship, the doors will be wide open to them at BITZER.

BITZER Schkeuditz has been one of the largest apprenticeship companies in the district of North Saxony, Germany, for many years, successfully launching young people’s careers. This year, the specialist in refrigeration and air conditioning technology is delighted to welcome eight new apprentices in three areas of specialisation: six industrial mechanics, one warehouse logistics specialist and one mechatronics technician. A new chapter in their lives began with the launch of their careers at BITZER on 29 August 2022.

‘We couldn’t be happier to welcome young people to our company again. In-house vocational training is very important to us at BITZER, as it not only allows us to recruit new employees, but also pass on our values and our high quality standards directly. That’s why we’re also interested in working together over the long term. If our apprentices successfully complete their vocational training, we can offer them a variety of future prospects,’ says Jana Herbig, Head of HR at BITZER Schkeuditz. The company has offered vocational training since BITZER Kühlmaschinenbau Schkeuditz GmbH was founded in 1991, and around 75 per cent of apprentices still work there. Sooner or later, many of the former apprentices choose to pursue another qualification while they work, whether master craftsperson, technician or business management training.

Since the early 1990s, 128 apprentices have successfully completed an apprenticeship at the BITZER site in Schkeuditz. The company currently has a total of 30 apprentices, including 26 industrial mechanics, two warehouse logistics specialists and two mechatronics technicians. The 2023 application phase is already under way. ‘Thanks to consistent recruitment of young talents and retention of skilled staff, our site is continuously growing. With more than 800 employees, we’ve expanded our position as the largest manufacturing employer in the district of North Saxony. And we look after our staff, offering them secure employment over the long term. That’s particularly important to us,’ says Herbig.

BITZER is active all over the world as an independent specialist in refrigeration and air conditioning technology: with products and services for refrigeration, air conditioning, process cooling and transport, BITZER ensures optimum temperature conditions in goods trading, industrial processes and air conditioning – always in the context of maximum energy efficiency and quality. The BITZER Group is represented across the globe with distribution companies and production facilities at 72 locations in 38 countries. The BITZER production, development and sales association, including trading and service partners, operates in nearly every country around the world. In 2021, more than 3,900 employees generated sales of €928 million, with €47 million invested in research and development.
