Transportable PCIe 5.0 expansions in a rugged chassis

Long-time hardware provider BRESSNER Technology releases fifth-generation PCIe expansion systems and expansion backplanes. Together with NASDAQ company One Stop Systems, BRESSNER is approaching the European market for industrial interface and GPU expansions, based on the current PCIe 5.0 standard. This includes a transportable PCIe Gen5 hardware accelerator in a 19-inch 4U ruggedized chassis. The high-speed interfaces enable the necessary scalability and flexibility for real-time data transmission. It is expected to benefit applications such as autonomous vehicles, AI-driven sensor aggregations, and medical and industrial fields.

The Gen5 4U Pro is a fully configurable PCIe 5.0 acceleration system in a rugged 4U aluminum enclosure. The GPU accelerator supports PCIe Gen5 add-in cards such as AICs, HIBs, NICs, as well as GPUs (including up to eight NVIDIA® H100 graphics cards). The hardware system also offers up to 16 single-width slots with x8 lanes for FPGAs. The OSS Unified Base Board Management (U-BMC) provides IPMI-based, system monitoring of expansion and host as well as dynamic fan control. Two 1600-watt load sharing power supplies provide sufficient power, even for demanding HPC and edge applications. Designed as a transportable rugged solution, the Gen5 4U Pro is intended to handle the entire AI workflow at the edge outside of traditional data centers.

BRESSNER Technology is also providing two new PCIe Gen5 expansion backplanes, which are the core of the new GPU accelerator. The plug-in cards are available as individual components, with x8 lanes and eight slots or with x16 lanes and five slots. The backplanes include a PCIe x16 Gen5 target slot suitable for x16 target adapters, with optional bisection to support a second target slot for the 8-slot variant.

"With the new PCIe 5.0 enhancements, we are creating a hardware platform that brings bandwidth doubling and low latency to AI transportables," said Benjamin Nigl, senior account manager for high-performance computing at BRESSNER Technology, "We are working closely with One Stop Systems to optimize AI performance and meet customer requirements for field applications in vehicles, aircraft, ships, mining or agriculture."
