From A for Australia to U for Ukraine: Logwin’s worldwide charity commitment in 2022
Logwin is committed to a wide range of social engagements around the world – not only financially, but with its strongest asset: its own employees. That is why we attach great importance to supporting local organisations and individual activities of our employees. These include long-term projects such as support for the orphanage in Kenya or participation in environmental campaigns and beach clean-ups by colleagues in Australia, as well as new measures implemented this year – especially due to the war in Ukraine.
These range from small actions, such as a visit to a home for the elderly by colleagues in Hanover or support for a music concert in Prague for people with disabilities, to sporting participation in a charity run in the fight against cancer in Singapore, to larger outreaches for orphans by our branches in Kenya, Thailand or South Korea by means of action days, donations in kind, food and time to play with the children. Due to the poor living conditions on site, many children do not have the possibility of a school education. Therefore, we try to give as many children as possible access to knowledge by donating school materials in Hong Kong, supporting them with scholarships in Vietnam or simply by providing books as part of a sponsorship in Malaysia. In Belgium, too, a team of staff members went out to help families from poor backgrounds and spent a day sorting clothing donations, handing out food and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.
This year, the fate of people from Ukraine was very close to the hearts of our staff. Due to Poland’s geographical proximity, the support here was particularly great. Whether by taking in refugees and families, collecting donations or packing care packages to give them a new start in a foreign country. In addition, employees visited a foundation for "women in need" and gave the Ukrainian children an afternoon of their time with balloons, face painting and games. Logwin also supported Ukrainian women and their children in Germany in cooperation with an association by providing emergency shelters with furniture, sports equipment and toys.
Seeing that many families and especially children around the world live in poor conditions through no fault of their own, have to leave their homes due to war or have to cope with everyday life with a handicap has moved many of our employees. At the same time, it encouraged them in their actions and in return for their commitment, our employees received many shining children’s eyes, smiling faces and, above all, gratitude.
