To date, the Opel Vivaro has mainly been known as an all-rounder for businesses seeking a light commercial vehicle that is as flexible as it is efficient. But the Vivaro can do much more – as an ‘Alpincamper’, it is now a practical, comfortable campervan. The specialists from the Bavarian town of Lenggries, which sits almost directly on the German-Austrian border, are converting the bestselling Opel commercial vehicle into an extensively equipped motorhome, available in two variants. The Alpincamper Vivaro 2 offers plenty of space for up to two people while the Alpincamper Vivaro 4 can accommodate up to four people. But no matter whether customers choose the smaller or the larger variant, comfortable touring is ensured.

The Opel Vivaro comes with a wide range of features as standard such as air conditioning, a multimedia system including digital radio reception and numerous assistance systems such as Brake and Hill Start Assist, cruise control and speed limiter as well as Rear Park Pilot, which makes manoeuvring much easier. In addition, the Alpincamper Vivaro is well-prepared for challenging terrain thanks to the Opel rough-road package including 25 millimetres more ground clearance and the Intelli-Grip traction system for sand, mud and snow. The 2.0-litre diesel engine with an output of 106 kW/145 hp and a powerful 370 Nm of torque (Opel Vivaro fuel consumption according to WLTP¹: 8.0-7.2 l/100 km, CO₂ emissions 211-186 g/km; each combined) in conjunction with the smooth 8-speed automatic transmission, offers brisk progress with exemplary efficiency.

Alpincamper Vivaro 4: For a camping holiday with the family

There is space for the whole family in the Alpincamper Vivaro 4. For everyday journeys into the city, the campervan has two additional seats in the rear, including Isofix fittings for small passengers, in addition to the driver and swivelling front passenger seat. Once the desired destination has been reached, the sleeping bench can be converted into a 1.20 x 1.95 metre double bed in seconds. In addition, the pop-up roof, under which you can either stand comfortably or set up a lying surface, also measures 1.20 x 1.95 metres. The ascent and descent is possible via the front seats. From the upper floor you can enjoy the view of nature through three large windows.

Furthermore, the Alpincamper Vivaro 4 has a kitchen module with storage space for everyday needs and a sink with fresh and wastewater tanks including an automatic water tap. The compressor coolbox housed in the kitchen module is also part of the standard equipment. The single burner, removable stove is powered by a gas cartridge.

The living room is insulated and completely lined with felt. Blackout curtains for the side and rear windows as well as the driver’s cab plus warm white LED lamps ensure cosiness in the evening. And thanks to the Webasto auxiliary heater, overnight stays in the spring or late autumn are comfortably warm in the interior. The technical equipment is completed by the lithium battery with EURO 6 charging booster, 220 volt external and internal connection and a charger for the second battery.

Alpincamper Vivaro 2: Travel fun for individualists

Those who prefer to start the weekend or vacation alone or as a couple will find the ideal solution in the Alpincamper Vivaro 2. The biggest difference to the version for four people is the pop-up roof, which in this case does not offer a lying surface but offers up to 1.90 metres of headroom. Here, too, the comfort couch in the rear can easily be converted into a double bed; a 10-centimetre-thick cold foam mattress ensures relaxing sleep. The kitchen module has a two-burner stove with electric ignition and an integrated sink. In addition, an integrated folding table is also provided.

The specialist converter also offers additional accessories for the two Vivaro variants, such as cassette awnings, a Multirail for attaching a sun sail, off-road tyres and even a solar panel. Both the Alpincamper Vivaro for four and for two people remain under a height of two metres despite more ground clearance and the pop-up roof, and are therefore fully suitable for everyday use.
