LAPP solutions for industrial transformation
Mechanical and plant engineering is an important core market for LAPP whose biggest challenges currently include Industrial Communication and automation. With this in mind, LAPP will be demonstrating several innovative approaches to industrial transformation: Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) is revolutionising factory networking. The technology enables a cost-effective and space-saving solution for seamless Industry 4.0 communication and is almost as powerful as multi-pair Ethernet. SPE also allows for far greater distances, is more compact and requires less installation effort. LAPP is a pioneer of SPE and already has cable variants in its portfolio.
Predictive maintenance is an important tool for avoiding unplanned machine downtimes. With the reliable ETHERLINE® GUARD monitoring solution, the current performance of a data cable at risk of failure can be evaluated. This guarantees permanently stable data connections.
More efficient production can also be achieved with ÖLFLEX® CONNECT system solutions. Whether deploying pre-assembled single-core cables for stationary systems, servo assemblies for fast applications or highly complex drag chains, users save time and personnel with this plug & play solution from LAPP, enabling them to concentrate on their core competences.
Solutions for the energy transition
In order increase renewable energies, besides innovative, demand-optimised complete solutions for wind and PV systems, LAPP also has energy storage systems and hydrogen technology. LAPP also addressed the topic of direct current at a very early stage and already has an extensive portfolio of solutions available for this too. Some background to this: the establishment of extensive direct-current grids, which will significantly increase the overall efficiency of the energy grid, is an important building block for the energy revolution.
Another important component for greater sustainability is the furthering of electric mobility. LAPP will be presenting forward-looking charging solutions to this end. For example the LAPP Helix, a fast-charging cable that automatically reassumes its original shape after charging and virtually tidies itself up of its own accord. The type 2 Helix charging cable complies with the European standard and, with the lightweight and multi-award-winning MOBILITY DOCK, electric vehicle drivers can charge easily and conveniently from any household socket. The charger takes up hardly any space at all in the boot and can be used with any type 2 charging cable.
LAPP has set itself the goal of significantly reducing the carbon footprint of its products by 2025. Copper, which is responsible for 88 percent of the CO2 footprint of LAPP products on average, will play a key role in this. The transparency of the supply chain and innovative approaches to cable design are the first steps. The carbon footprint of individual products is also to be holistically analysed and evaluated. In addition, the issue of waste prevention in production is becoming increasingly important as a method of attaining climate neutrality.
The future now begins in the FutureLab
In the FutureLab at its trade fair stand, LAPP will be showcasing several innovative product and service solutions. ZeroCM® technology is a special, innovative stranding technique that virtually eliminates electromagnetic interference in connectivity solutions, thus ensuring permanent network stability. With the Network Approval Service, users can have the entire state of a machine network checked for robustness. Another new feature is the eKanban shelf, which can be used to reliably display remaining cable lengths on drums. Another innovation is the new image recognition software. This enables individual products to be recorded and reordered automatically in the LAPP Online Shop if required, ensuring optimum control of reordering – while bottlenecks are avoided.
Enabler stage for trending topics
The major trending topics of SPE, direct current, EMC and ÖLFLEX® CONNECT system solutions will also be discussed on the Enabler Stage at the trade fair stand. Talks will be given every day at 3 pm. There will also be live presentations of the new products and coffee talks on the topics of sustainability and innovation management.
