Seaports of Niedersachsen present themselves at the WindEurope in Copenhagen
The importance of wind energy for the German ports cannot be overestimated. The universal port of Niedesachsen is an important hub for the realization of a sustainable and, above all, independent energy supply in Germany.
"Due to the strategically favorable location in the heart of Europe with good connections to the most important shipping routes and transport networks, the seaports of Niedersachsen are one of Germany’s most important logistics hubs for companies that want to export goods in Europe and beyond," explains André Heim, Managing Director Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH , “In addition, the Seaports of Niedersachsen offer modern and well-equipped facilities, including state-of-the-art handling equipment and logistics management systems. These facilities enable Seaports to efficiently handle large volumes of cargo and huge wind energy components while ensuring the safety of goods during transit.”
Wind power is currently still the strongest of the renewable energies in the German electricity mix. The presence at the trade fair reinforces Niedersachsen’s commitment to promoting the use of wind power by the seaports of Niedersachsen to supporting the federal government’s plans to achieve complete coverage of energy requirements by renewable energies by 2035. The state is providing around EUR 100 million for the expansion of offshore wind power in Cuxhaven alone. In the future, berths 5-7 are intended to significantly expand the capacities for handling wind power components and thus contribute to the energy transition. “Our ports are crucial hubs for sustainable energy sources of the future. Directly on the windy North Sea coast, we provide powerful and heavy-duty port infrastructure for the construction and expansion of offshore wind turbines in the North Sea," says Holger Banik, Managing Director of Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG (NPorts) and JadeWeserPort Realisierungs GmbH & Co. KG.
WindEurope positions itself as the voice of the wind industry and actively promotes wind energy across Europe. This includes over 400 members from the entire wind energy value chain: wind turbine manufacturers, component suppliers, energy suppliers and wind farm developers, financial institutions, research institutes and national wind energy associations. More than 10,000 visitors and 500 exhibitors are expected in Copenhagen from April 25th to 27th. Seaports expects many visitors and successful discussions with other players on the latest developments and innovations in the wind energy industry at their stand D-A10.
