DDR4 Wide Temperature Module from Innodisk to Enhance Autonomous Driving

Innodisk is partnering with a global leader in autonomous driving to further develop its Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning training server. The goal of the server is to build a reliable, fully automated vehicle at Level 4 of autonomy. At this level, the systems perform all driving tasks autonomously. The driver can completely relinquish vehicle control and becomes a passenger.

The DDR4 3200 16GB RDIMM Wide Temperature Modules with Coating Technology from Innodisk have the necessary stability for this. The memory works with a high data rate and a register function and thus supports the operation of AI systems. It operates in the extended temperature range of -40 °C to +85 and up to a relative humidity of 95%. It is protected against the humidity of the liquid cooling system by a special coating. The coating technology also protects the module from dirt, dust, moisture, corrosion, electrical and thermal conduction. The DDR4 RDIMM undergoes 1,000 times reboot test and S3 cycle test as well as 48 hours functional test before shipment.

The memory solution provides high performance, safety and efficiency, and supports the development of automated driving technology to create a safer and more efficient transportation situation. For use in a high-performance AI training server, the system must be very powerful, as it is used as a data logger to collect and analyze road conditions and traffic flow, and to perform AI machine learning. In addition, it can be used in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Data processing is very intensive, as self-driving systems produce large amounts of data from sensors and AI algorithms, and these must be processed efficiently. All the components used must work reliably, as the overall system in autonomous vehicles must deliver consistent performance over long periods of time. In addition, the system must be highly resilient in harsh environments, as it is permanently exposed to potential moisture inside the liquid cooling system.

Through good communication from inquiry to implementation, Innodisk ensures the delivery of a customized solution that fits the customer’s application. The focus is on the complete integration of hardware, firmware and software.
