Gold for medicine and for investors
Various precious metals, including gold, are present in the medical field.
Gold not only shines as a value-securing investment for investors but is also valued in many civilizations for its medicinal effects. Research is being conducted on gold nanoparticles in the context of cancer treatments. These particles ensure that therapeutic agents are delivered very precisely to cancer cells. This means that healthy tissue is not damaged. Research is also underway into how gold can be used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Gold was already used in ancient medicine. In China, for example, gold leaf or gold powder were used in remedies around 200 years before Christ.
In ancient Greece, the famous physician Hippocrates relied on the medicinal and also cosmetic effects of the precious metal. And in the Roman Empire, gold was in demand in the medical field, often in connection with religious and spiritual beliefs. Gold was also often mixed with other minerals or herbs. Tiny gold nanoparticles can be coated with molecules and then they can bind to cells or tissues in a targeted manner. Cancer DNA is even attracted to gold. Gold also makes for quick and affordable tests, such as for malaria. Research aims to revolutionize medicine.
Such applications are possible with gold because the noble metal scores with extraordinary stability. But gold also shows stability in terms of value retention and asset protection. The fact that the gold price is currently not so particularly pleasing is due to the fact that expectations of further interest rate increases are depressing the mood on the gold market.
But this phase will also pass and investments in high-quality gold companies will make sense, for example in Chesapeake Gold or Fury Gold Mines.
