Record Results at Automobilia-Ladenburg
“We can definitely call them record results,” said Automobilia-Ladenburg CEO Marcel Seidel when talking about the most recent auctions. He stressed that auctions in Ladenburg are becoming ever more popular. “We not only attract national bidders, but also increasing numbers of international customers at our auctions,” Seidel continued.
In addition to the major auction of the two Porsche Anniversary Specials, the estate of the legendary German racing driver Edgar Barth was offered for sale. In late May 2023, “Going, going, gone” was once again heard in Automobilia-Ladenburg Auction House Seidel.
The highest price of EUR 55,948.80 including buyer’s premium, was achieved by the Scuderia Ferrari Yearbook 2 Anni Di Corse from 1930-1931. This first ever yearbook recorded the first two active years and the first racing successes on 84 pages. The bundle of nine “Rapiditas” Targa Florio yearbooks was auctioned for a price of EUR 33,331.20 including buyer’s premium.
The price of a very rare paint sample chart with seven paint samples climbed from EUR 1,500.00 to EUR 42,855.59 (including buyer’s premium). This set from the 1950s was, among other things, the colour reference for early Ferrari sports cars with Vignale bodywork. A colour fan with a total of 38 paint samples for sports cars such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati Lechler BSB Metallizzati Grana Magnun/Lechler Isoakryl Base Perlata, started with a reserve of EUR 1,000.00 and climbed to more than EUR 18,400.00 including buyer’s premium. Another highlight worth mentioning is the original Lechleroid 1930s paint sample chart with a total of 72 shades. This rarity was entered with a reserve of EUR 2,500.00 – and was then auctioned by Marcel Seidel in Ladenburg for a price (including buyer’s premium) of EUR 11,665.92. The extremely rare collectors’ item in the form of a leather board folder for Ferrari 250 from 1960-1964 changed owner for EUR 9,285.12 including buyer’s premium.
But even seemingly small items are growing in popularity: for example, a Ferrari factory postcard hand-signed by Mike Hawthorn from 1954 was offered with a reserve of EUR 1,200.00 and ultimately sold for EUR 8,928.00 (including buyer’s premium). The five-part bundle, containing the original blueprints of the Scuderia Ferrari office building and company site in Modena, entered with a reserve of EUR 500.00, was auctioned for EUR 3,690.24 including buyer’s premium.
The original black & white photograph of Piero Drogo with Luigi Chinetti around the Ferrari 365 P2 “white elephant” during the test drives in Modena in 1966 started with a reserve of EUR 150.00 and ended with an auction price of EUR 5,715.11 including buyer’s premium. Another shot of the Ferrari 365 P2 “white elephant” Drogo NART, which shows the car during test drives in Modena in 1966, climbed from the initial EUR 100.00 to the final price (including buyer’s premium) of EUR 5,596.07. Finally, a very special bundle of two original shots of Pierre Pagnibon on a Ferrari 212 Export Turboscocca Berlinetta Touring were available for a price including buyer’s premium of EUR 2,152.24. If you don’t want to wait until then, you can look for the upcoming online auction, details of which are published on the Automobilia Expert Marcel Seidel’s website. More information can be found on the website https://www.automobilia-ladenburg.de.
A great passion for automobilia and classic vehicles is the basis of Automobilia Ladenburg Marcel Seidel Auctions. Automobilia auctions have been held in the Roman town of Ladenburg since the year 2000. The car and technology parts sector has now been successfully expanded and, in addition to automobilia rarities, parts – from the chassis of a Porsche 917 to the complete engine of a Ferrari Formula 1 car – are auctioned. The auctions always include unique lots, which are always carefully sought out so that the company can always offer a fascinating auction catalogue.
