Android 13 “Tiramisu” Released for C9 RED Mobile Devices

Keeping up with the pace of third-party software development is a crucial aspect of daily business and iDTRONIC is pleased to announce their update to Android 13 (code-named “Tiramisu”) on selected RFID devices. With the updated operating system, users of iDTRONIC’s C9 RED and C9 RED GUN can benefit from the improved personalization and security features included in the release, for example:

  • Assignment of specific languages to individual apps so you can keep your phone’s system in one language, and each of your apps in a different language – practical for international organisations.
  • Prevention of any unwanted access to your clipboard. If you copy sensitive data like your email address, phone number or login credentials on your device, Android will automatically clear your clipboard history after a period of time.
  • Apps require explicit permission to send notifications, rather than being allowed to send notifications by default.
  • Improved Device-Sharing: Ability to copy content — like a URL, picture, text or video — from your Android phone and paste it on your tablet or vice-versa.

► ALL RFID FREQUENCIES – ONE MOBILE SOLUTION

Notwithstanding the unique selling point of the iDTRONIC C9 RED series is its RFID capabilities. It is equipped with integrated RFID reader modules that support various frequencies, including LF (Low Frequency), HF (High Frequency incl. NFC and LEGIC) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency). The NFC reader is especially suitable for point-of-sale applications in retail. Thanks to the latest barcode scanner, the handheld scanners read both 2D QR codes and 1D barcodes on product packaging. Scan-intensive tasks with high reading ranges of up to 18 meters (UHF frequency) can be handled with the C9 RED GUN scanner with ergonomic grip. The integrated wireless communication options – WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS – transmit the captured data quickly and directly to your system.

This versatility makes these devices suitable for a wide range of applications, such as:

Asset tracking: The C9 RED series simplify asset management by enabling users to quickly scan RFID tags on equipment, inventory or assets and provide real-time updates on their location and status.

Inventory management: Organizations can perform RFID-based inventory counts and updates for greater accuracy and efficiency in inventory management.

Access control: The devices can be used for secure access control systems that enable authentication via RFID-enabled cards or badges.

Retail: Track inventory, reduce out-of-stocks, and improve the shopping experience through fast and accurate price checks.

The “icing on the cake” (or rather on the Tiramisu) is the integrated IP65 standard, making the handheld terminals optimally protected against environmental influences such as dust, water, dirt and ambient conditions. In a nutshell, the C9 REDs are an all-in-one robust and reliable tool for industrial applications.

► Configuration Tool and Demo Software included

The C9 RED handheld scanner series is supplied with a configuration tool for Android Studio & Eclipse systems. This supports the programming language Javascript and the ConfigTool simplifies and facilitates the connection to your existing systems – “the cherry on top” if you will. The SDK is compatible with both Android 10 and Android 13 operating systems.
