Upgrading plastic parts through painting – SKZ course imparts knowledge about the painting process
Plastic components – especially visible parts – are often coated. In addition to defined visual and tactile properties, this also provides functional benefits such as improved media resistance. A number of factors must be taken into account to ensure that the coating is successful and meets quality requirements. Influencing factors such as the injection molding process as an upstream processing technology or the surface properties of the part to be coated have a massive impact on the result. The type of paint and the coating process also play a role. For this reason, SKZ and its subsidiary EZD (European Center for Dispersion Technologies) are organizing a two-day intensive course in April 2023 that will cover all aspects of coating plastics.
External experts will round off the seminar
Process optimization and surface analysis will be covered, as well as damage analysis and coating systems. External experts from the automotive sector or raw material producers round off the seminar. The SKZ site in Selb, which is intensively involved with dispersions and suspensions, will also provide appropriate input.
"Excellent knowledge along the entire process chain"
"We are delighted to be able to share our practical knowledge during the course. Thanks to our expertise in paint formulation and in the wet and powder coating of plastic components, we have excellent knowledge along the entire process chain," says Dr. Felipe Wolff-Fabris, course instructor and head of the EZD in Selb.
Networking evening planned
A visit to the Ratskeller in Würzburg at the end of the first day of the event will also provide a good opportunity to exchange ideas and network.
The SKZ is a member of the Zuse Association. This is an association of independent, industry-related research institutions that pursue the goal of improving the performance and competitiveness of industry, especially SMEs, through innovation and networking. Learn more about SKZ
The European Center for Dispersion Technologies (EZD) is an institution of the SKZ Plastics Center and as an interdisciplinary and non-profit research and innovation center deals with the production and characterization of dispersions such as adhesives, resins, paints, coatings or elastomers. A high priority of the EZD is the transfer of scientific research to the applied industry. Learn more about EZD
