„6th Forum Plastic Recyclates“ – a branch meeting on mechanical plastics recycling, March 13 and 14, 2024 in Darmstadt
International exchange in the plastics industry
The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF invites you to the sixth Forum Plastic Recyclates on March 13 and 14, 2024 in Darmstadt. The symposium in English offers participants the opportunity to exchange ideas in an international circle and brings together plastics producers, processors, recyclers, and users.
Presentations by selected national and international experts from research and industry such as Coperion GmbH, BYK-Chemie GmbH, Audi AG, Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, Miele & Cie. KG, SULO Deutschland GmbH, TecPart Verband Technische Kunststoff-Produkte e.V., cirplus GmbH, ifeu GmbH, trinamiX GmbH, PolyIQ GmbH, SI Group and Trinseo will provide insights into market developments, research approaches and technical solutions.
In addition to the technical content, the event is an established platform for informal exchanges between participants and offers excellent networking opportunities.
The venue for the sixth Forum Plastic Recyclates is the Welcome Hotel in Darmstadt. The hotel is centrally located, has an underground parking garage, and can be easily reached by public transport.
Handover of the conference management
After five successful events, Professor Rudolf Pfaendner is handing over the management of the conference to Dr. Elke Metzsch-Zilligen and Dr. Christian Beinert. "I am delighted to welcome this team as the new conference dual leadership". Both are experts in their respective fields of plastics additives and plastics molding and will enrich the conference with new ideas.
New exclusive additional format: #LBFDeepDive
In addition to the tried-and-tested event elements, the #LBFDeepDive offers an exclusive group of participants the opportunity to gain an insight into the research activities of the Fraunhofer LBF on the topic of plastic recyclates for a whole day for the first time on the day before the practical forum. Scientists will provide in-depth insights into their research work, e. g. what potential there is for reducing emissions and odors, how companies can obtain successful recyclates through additives and post-stabilization or what possibilities and limitations need to be considered in the context of recyclates analysis (impurities, composition, rheology, …).
The focus is on concrete experience reports on innovative approaches and technical discussions between the participants from industry and science.
Interface between science and business
As an application-oriented research institute and neutral contact partner, Fraunhofer LBF forms the interface between science and industry and plays a leading role in the research landscape, especially in the field of recyclates. With the organization of numerous technology conferences and industry working groups, the Darmstadt-based research institute has been a fixture in the plastics industry for many years and, as an experienced and established partner, has taken over the management of the 2022 event from Hanser Verlag. Hanser Verlag continues to support the conference in an idealistic way.

The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt has stood for the safety and reliability of lightweight structures since 1938. With its expertise in the fields of structural durability, system reliability, vibration technology and polymer technology, the institute today offers solutions for three important cross-cutting topics of the future: lightweight system design, functional integration and cyber-physical mechanical engineering systems. The focus is on solutions for social challenges such as resource efficiency and emission reduction as well as future mobility, such as electromobility and autonomous, networked driving. Clients come from sectors such as vehicle construction, aviation, mechanical and plant engineering, energy technology, electrical engineering, medical technology and the chemical industry. They benefit from the proven expertise of around 400 employees and state-of-the-art technology in more than 17,900 square meters of laboratory and testing space. www.lbf.fraunhofer.de
