EUROGUSS 2024: Leading trade fair with the highest relevance

From January 16 to 18 EUROGUSS takes place in Nuremberg – a go-to event in the calendar of the international die casting industry: Since 1996, trade visitors from all over the world have found this to be a profitable platform where they can discuss the latest developments along the entire value chain. The 2024 edition of the industry’s leading trade fair extends to four exhibition halls and is fully booked, with 643 exhibitors. At the same time, its early positioning at the beginning of the year makes it an important barometer for future decisions in challenging times.

Exhibitors from 33 countries will be demonstrating everything die casting has to offer at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg – from the smallest zinc die castings to huge castings (“giga-castings”) made of aluminium. EUROGUSS 2024 will examine in depth the trend toward ever larger structural parts made of aluminium, which are particularly popular in the automotive industry; guided tours and many presentations at the accompanying events will also cover this aspect. Other key topics include sustainability/the circular economy and digitalization.

The trending topic of giga-casting

“Giga-casting is currently one of the dominant topics in the industry and we are therefore giving the presentation of this new technology the space it deserves,” says Christopher Boss, Executive Director of EUROGUSS. The largest machine that has ever been set up at the exhibition venue in Nuremberg – after all, NürnbergMesse GmbH is in its 50th anniversary year – will be on display: a huge deburring press for these very giga-castings. Boss: “The effort put in by numerous exhibitors to transport and assemble large machines is an impressive demonstration of how relevant the trade fair is to the industry.”

Discussion even of threatening developments such as the current economic environment, characterized by high energy costs, increasing red tape and a weak economy, will not be left only to exchanges between individual participants. Other opportunities at EUROGUSS will include the panel discussion “The future of SMEs: Are we casting the future in Germany?”, in which Tobias Gotthardt, State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, and Sarna Röser, former Federal Chair of DIE JUNGEN UNTERNEHMER and advocate for the interests of SMEs, will take part, in addition to representatives from the foundry industry.

International aspirations

Despite the difficult conditions, the industry remains innovative and future-oriented, as demonstrated by the European Die Casting Competition and the Talent Competition, which will be decided as part of EUROGUSS, as well as sessions such as “Sustainability in the casting industry – Quo Vadis?”, chaired by Professor Matthias Fifka from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

EUROGUSS is once again living up to its claim of being the leading international trade fair for die casting, with 60 percent of exhibitors coming from abroad. Many exhibitors are travelling from Italy, Turkey, Spain, Austria and Switzerland in particular. Taking place at its usual time in January, EUROGUSS will mark the start of the anniversary year for NürnbergMesse GmbH, which was founded 50 years ago. With its activities in Germany and abroad, it is now one of the 15 largest trade fair organizers in the world.
