Plus10 GmbH honored for the first time as „Premium Partner Research“ of SKZ
The SKZ has retroactively recognized Plus10 GmbH as a "Premium Partner Research" for the year 2023. The Würzburg-based institute has been awarding this popular prize to innovative plastics companies since 2020 – initially only in the field of education, but from 2023 also in the field of research. Plus10 GmbH receives the award for its comprehensive and innovative cooperation in the field of research and development in plastics technology. "The Premium Partner selection includes companies that work with us to (further) develop innovative topics, sustainably promote and expand research and decisively advance the plastics industry beyond the standard," reports Matthias Ruff, authorized representative and sales manager for education and research at the SKZ in Würzburg.
Development of behavioral models for the injection molding process
In the past, the Fraunhofer IPA-KI spin-off Plus10 and SKZ have successfully cooperated in various projects. The main focus was on the development of behavioral models for the injection molding process. The goal was to research and test behavioral models that can be transferred across machines in order to recommend optimized process parameters for the subsequent production cycle. This increases the quality of the products and reduces the cycle times of injection molding machines by six to 18 percent in practice.
SKZ with "great process expertise
"We appreciate the efficient cooperation and the comprehensive process expertise of SKZ. Thanks to their practice-oriented research, we can develop and test new models very close to real industrial processes and plant technology. This gives us a great advantage in the continuous further development of our learning optimization tools for new problems and areas of application," explains Felix Georg Müller, Managing Director of Plus10 GmbH.
"Rezi-KI" Research Project
The start of the "Rezi-KI" research project will further advance the collaboration in 2024. "In Rezi-KI, we want to further develop the plus10-Hopper AI tool to compensate for batch variations in the use of post-consumer recyclates (PCR), which have an impact on dimensional accuracy, surface quality and mechanical properties. The aim is to increase the use of PCR in technical components – e.g. in the automotive, electrical appliance or consumer goods sectors – in order to make a significant contribution to recycling," says Jakob Schüder, an engineer in the injection molding department at SKZ, who is looking forward to further cooperation with the team from plus10, BASF, Bosch-Siemens-Hausgeräte (BSH), KraussMaffei and the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
