hofer powertrain proudly looks back at the success of its recent event at the newly expanded eDrive Development Center in Vienna. Held on April 24, 2024, the company welcomed many customers, partners, and friends to discuss the needs of the automotive industry and latest powertrain technologies. The expansion of the location in Vienna underscores hofer powertrain’s commitment to innovation and value engineering in e-mobility with pure electric and hybrid technologies.

“The event not only highlighted our growth but also demonstrated our cutting-edge solutions and new approaches in the realm of eDrive technologies for high-end applications. It showcased our ability to realize the most advanced powertrain solutions for renowned customers and highlighted the growing demand for hofer powertrain’s offerings in the region and worldwide,” stated Klaus Wawra, Managing Director of hofer powertrain’s Vienna office.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore a range of advanced technologies and solutions, including unique Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) solutions and some of the most compact and efficient Electric Drive Units in the industry. Some feature the latest Form Litz Winding in stators and cost-efficient 3-Level inverter technologies. Others are highly compact, introducing new architectures, and some represent autonomous "people mover" electric drive solutions that can achieve up to 600,000 km of driving distance over their lifetime, among many other innovations. Highlights included hofer powertrain’s recent series projects on display, such as the hydraulic solution for AMG Project 1 and the McLaren 8-speed Hybrid Transmission with e-Reverse functionality. These projects showcase hofer powertrain´s ability to design and integrate sophisticated technologies for high-performance automotive applications and bring them into series. The event also provided a platform for engaging discussions on the future of mobility with experts from various hofer powertrain locations and disciplines.

“Our presence in Vienna allows us to leverage a broad range of development competencies, making advanced and sustainable drive systems accessible to our clients locally and worldwide. This event has proven to be a significant milestone in our journey and will be an integral part of our operations in the future, allowing our customers and partners to see the latest tech on an annual basis,” added Klaus Wawra.

The new facility currently covers 451 m² with fully equipped workspaces, designed to support up to 40 engineering professionals, scalable to up to 1,400 m² for any big eDrive development projects. The new building stands out with its attractive design and excellent transport connections, offering direct highway access and its own subway station (UNO-City). This ensures convenient travel for team members from other locations and customers. The setup fosters a productive working environment and facilitates comfortable and enriching knowledge transfer in projects. With this location, hofer powertrain expands its expertise and resources both within the region and beyond.

hofer powertrain extends its heartfelt thanks to all who attended and contributed to the success of this landmark event and is excited to continue its journey from this new and expansive facility, fostering innovations, rapid processes, and cost efficiency for the Automotive Market.
