Link11 opens new location in Ashburn, Virginia

Link11, one of the leading providers of cybersecurity solutions, has opened an additional Point of Presence (PoP) in Ashburn, Virginia. The new location complements the IT security provider’s existing presence in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. The expansion of the security cloud platform in Ashburn, known as the "Data Center Capital of the World", strengthens Link11’s global presence and offers improved defense capabilities and lower latency for customers in the region and beyond.

Approximately 70 percent of the world’s Internet traffic passes through the Ashburn data centers every day. The conditions there are ideal for storing and processing large volumes of data. "We are very proud to be expanding our capacity in one of the most important data centers in the world. The Ashburn location makes the core services of the Link11 Security Cloud platform even more readily available at a regional level. This gives companies the assurance that their digital services and business processes remain highly available. We are also strengthening our local market presence and customer proximity," states Jens-Phillip Jung, CEO of Link11.

Improved connectivity for multinational companies

International customers, such as global corporations, will benefit from the expansion of Link11’s infrastructure in the USA. The new PoP enables a more robust defense against cyberattacks while simultaneously improving the quality of service for our customers through lower latency times and better availability. "The opening of this new location is an important step to better support multinational companies that have offices or business units in the US," explains Jung. "With connection options ranging from 10 to 100 GB, we can meet the diverse needs of organizations operating locally." European customers who need data protection-compliant international solutions also benefit from the presence in the USA. The site is already being used by a DAX-listed customer immediately after opening.

In view of the increasing threats posed by DDoS attacks, it is crucial that companies take preventative measures at an early stage. According to the Link11 European Cyber Report 2023, significantly more "turbo attacks" were recorded in the Link11 network than in the previous year. On average, these DDoS attacks reach a critical level after just 14 seconds. As a result, local sites are becoming increasingly important, as they are crucial for the security of a growing number of low-latency services and offer companies reliable protection to ensure their business continuity.

Global network capacity continues to grow

Over the course of the year, two additional locations will be added to the existing Link11 network, including a new PoP in Europe and another in the USA. Currently, 11 locations strategically located around the world are analyzing network traffic with the self-learning filter algorithm and removing unwanted traffic such as DDoS requests. The expanded platform supports the cybersecurity provider on its expansion course.
