GROB presents its innovative automation solutions and universal machining centers

GROB, one of the leading machine tool and automation solution providers, will again present its newest developments in the field of automation and machining technologies at the AMB 2024 from September 10 to 14 in Stuttgart, Germany. An impressive selection of innovative machines and solutions perfectly tuned to the needs of modern manufacturing companies awaits visitors to the GROB exhibition stand in Hall 10, Booth B12.

The centerpieces of the presentation are the 5-axis universal machining center G350 in combination with the GROB robot cell GRC-R60 and the 5-axis mill-turn machining center G550T combined with the rotary pallet storage system PSS-R900, an additional magazine TM373 and the driverless transport system GROB Mobile Robot (GMR). These state-of-the-art solutions demonstrate how GROB develops customized systems for its customers by combining automation and machining technology.

"With our universal machining centers, we provide solutions that set new standards for flexibility and precision," explains Tobias Trautmann, Division Manager for Universal Machining Centers at GROB. "The perfect interplay of our machining centers and the automation solutions allows the customer to optimize their manufacturing processes, thus significantly increasing productivity."

Automation solutions for flexible production

The robot cell GRC-R60 enhances the machining center G350, providing impressive automated part handling with a compact design and easy installation. An innovative feeding system with drawers allows for longer production without interruptions and loading in parallel with machining. The automated clamping and gripper changing device allows the machining of a wide variety of workpiece types and clamping fixtures, while parameterizable workpiece geometries ensure short set-up times. Depending on the customer’s requirements, the GROB robot cells can be equipped with a wide variety of modules, from deburring, cleaning, measuring and labeling components to the integration of a second machine. The flexible and modular adaptation of the robot cell allows customers to design their production more efficiently and maximize machine utilization.

The 5-axis mill-turn machining center G550T in combination with the rotary pallet storage system PSS-R900 demonstrates how automated part handling can revolutionize modern production. GROB’s rotary pallet storage systems provide efficient part handling for the customer. Using these permits unmanned operation of the machines, resulting in shorter setup times, increased productivity and minimal idle time. The integration of the additional magazine TM373 and the GROB Mobile Robot enables continuous unmanned production.

"Our automation solutions are designed to perfectly meet the requirements of our customers. Whether automation of transport processes or expansion of production capacities – we can always provide a suitable concept," adds Trautmann.

Centers of Excellence – expert insights and individual solutions

Another highlight at the AMB is the introduction of the GROB Centers of Excellence. These provide customized technologies for different industries specifically tailored to respective requirements. GROB provides customers from the fields of medical technology, tool and mold making, energy technology, mechanical engineering, aerospace and the automotive industry with a broad product portfolio and a variety of machine and automation solutions.

"Our goal is to provide the ideal solution for each field," says Trautmann. "This is why our product portfolio is under continuous development to adapt to market requirements. Our Centers of Excellence play an important part in supporting the special requirements of our customers and providing them with innovative concepts."

Visitors to the AMB can experience the most recent GROB technologies live and see their performance and flexibility for themselves. Our experts are available for your questions in person, providing insight into the manifold application options for GROB technologies.
