Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt 2024: Personalities and Stories in Focus
Overnight Stays 2023 and Forecast 2024
December 2023 registered 366,061 overnight stays. Roughly two-thirds were guests from within Germany and one-third international visitors. “An analysis of the booking portal for December shows a 70 percent demand for accommodations on the Advent weekends,” said Yvonne Coulin, Managing Director of the Nuremberg Convention and Tourist Office. “2024 has been, as a whole, a strong year for visitors and we are feeling optimistic about a successful December,” adds Yvonne Coulin.
New Route: Vegan at the Christkindlesmarkt
In the lanes of the Christkindlesmarkt, specially themed routes allow guests to discover the hidden treasures of the market. For the Christmas Market 2024, a new tour “Vegan at the Christkindlesmarkt” has been developed. This self-guided tour shows booths that have vegan products on offer and answers a growing demand for plant-based alternatives. Additional routes show Nuremberg originals and culinary and regional specialties, customized licensed products of the market as well as unique gift ideas. The routes of these tours are available as a pdf on the website christkindlesmarkt.de as a download.
Two New Videos in the Series “Nuremberg Originals”
The CTZ and the Nuremberg Markets have extended their video series “Nuremberg Originals”. This year Nuremberg bratwurst as well as traditional and modern arts and crafts at the market are in focus. Produced by Jacco Kliesch, the videos offer a glimpse into the craftsmanship and the personal histories of the merchants at the market. Insights into prune men and gingerbread production are already available. The new videos can be seen on social media channels and the website of the Christkindlesmarkt after the market is opened.
Christkindlesmarkt Neighborhood
The Christkindlesmarkt can once again be explored digitally this year in the Nuremberg Neighborhoods web app. “We’re happy that we can place in the hands of all national and international guests – and locals – a complementary way to enhance their traditional Christmas Market visit: Through exciting anecdotes, a glimpse behind the scenes and the personal stories of the merchants at the market,” said Yvonne Coulin. In addition to unusual gift ideas, one can discover the vegan and vegetarian variety available at the market. New Christmas spots round out the offering in the web app.
Online Services for the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt
The digital events calendar at the website christkindlesmarkt.de contains more than 300 events surrounding the Christmas Market – from the musical program on the stage in front of the Church of Our Lady to special Christmas tours. Tickets for rides with the historical post coach of the Museum for Communication can also be booked online at https://tourismus.nuernberg.de/stadtfuehrung/nostalgische-postkutschenfahrten-zum-christkindlesmarkt/ or in Tourist Information on the Main Market Square or in the Craftsmen’s Courtyard. In addition to the digital events calendar, a booth plan is also available online with an improved search engine for products and information about the merchants.
Services for Tourist Coaches
For national and international tour operators, the proven system to control the flow of tourist coaches will continue this year. Bus drop-off and pick-up points for guests will again be available in Grasersgasse, Vestnertorgraben and Marienstraße. The bus team can drive to a special bus parking place at the Volksfestplatz for the duration of the visit. Upon entry, bus drivers receive a welcome package with an Elisen gingerbread from Lebkuchen Schmidt, a coupon for a bratwurst bun and beverage and, upon request, a ticket for public transportation.
Main Sponsor of the Christkindlesmarkt: Lebkuchen Schmidt
Since last year, Lebkuchen Schmidt has supported the Christkindlesmarkt as its main sponsor. This traditional company, founded in 1927, sees itself as a Christmas ambassador for Nuremberg with its world-famous specialties and hopes with its commitment to strengthen the Christkindlesmarkt brand. As part of this cooperation, Lebkuchen Schmidt has developed official licensed products for the market and contributes to charitable Christmas projects in the city.
