Surrounded by precious metals
Whether it’s the platinum in your car or the gold and silver in your cell phone, we are surrounded by precious metals. A cell phone contains around 300 milligrams of silver and 30 milligrams of gold. It doesn’t sound like much, but with more than a billion smartphones, it adds up to quite a lot. One ton of old smartphones contains 250 grams of gold. Mining companies often only find a few grams in a ton of rock. Gold has excellent corrosion resistance and very good conductivity. This is used in cell phone production for contact surfaces on the SIM card or battery. Gold can also be found in laptops, computers and semiconductors. Medicine discovered gold a long time ago.
Paracelsus and Hildegard von Bingen sometimes recommended it. Today, it has been proven that gold can help with joint diseases. Silver is also used in the health sector because of its antibacterial properties. In addition to jewelry, coins and bars, silver is also used in circuit boards, vehicles, household appliances, photovoltaic technology, switches and contacts. The photographic and chemical industries also use silver and it is sometimes found in alloys.
Sierra Madre Gold and Silver – https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/sierra-madre-gold-silver/ -, for example, is responsible for gold and silver at its projects in Mexico. The La Guitarra mine is already generating income.
Miata Metals – https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/miata-metals-corp/ – focuses purely on gold. Among other things, the company has earn-in options to acquire a 100% interest in the Sela Creek gold project in Suriname and the Cabin Lake property in British Columbia.
Palladium, another precious metal, is used as a raw material in the automotive sector for hybrid vehicles, in industry, in the jewelry sector and, of course, in the investment sector. It is also used in many electrical appliances as well as in computers and smartphones. The areas of application for platinum are no less interesting. These include catalytic converters in the automotive sector, the jewelry industry, the medical industry and, last but not least, the manufacture of Hydrogen batteries.
