Automating Data Centers: Highlights of the orcharhino Release 6.4

orcharhino simplifies the automation of data centers. With the help of the tool, users can roll out physical and virtual systems and determine their lifecycle—from creation to installation of updates and system maintenance to decommissioning. Connected systems can be configured with configuration management solutions such as Ansible, Puppet and Salt, which allows for a secure and rapid scaling of infrastructure. orcharhino supports AlmaLinux, Amazon Linux, CentOS, Debian, Oracle Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Rocky Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and Ubuntu. ATIX AG is the manufacturer of orcharhino.

Today, ATIX is introducing orcharhino Version 6.4. The release contains numerous new functions and stability improvements. In the templates section, for example, there is now an autocomplete feature for the DSL documentation in the template editor: users can now easily see the available macros when writing or modifying a template. With CTRL + SPACE you get a list of the available elements. More information is available at https://(your orcharhino host)/templates_doc. We have also added a report template that provides an overview of the installed packages on managed hosts: "Host – All Installed Packages."

Regarding compute resource providers, orcharhino now supports Proxmox Release 7.3, so orcharhino users can automatically provision and manage virtual machines in a Proxmox Virtual Environment 7.3.

There have also been some changes in the documentation: you can now configure orcharhino servers so that they use a load balancer to distribute client requests and network load across multiple orcharhino Proxies. This leads to an overall improvement of the services provided by the orcharhino Proxies.

We have also revised the part of the documentation that deals with managed systems with Ansible.

Details on orcharhino integrations with AWX, Ansible Tower, or Oracle Linux Automation Manager can be found in the documentation now.

Furthermore, we have added information about using Ansible Vaults in orcharhino to securely store and access sensitive data when managing hosts with Ansible.

We offer accompanied updates as part of a booked maintenance service. Users can contact us so that we can find a suitable date. We will be happy to offer our help and advice!
