Camair-Co and aviationscouts signed a deal for two shipsets of decent economy and business class seats to reconfigure the carrier’s Boeing 737-700s
The collaboration includes a complete modification package and delivery of modern Recaro 3520 economy (119 PAX) and 4710 business (12 PAX) class seats, as well as customized antimacassars and carpets. The modification on both aircraft is taking place in Addis Ababa by Ethiopian MRO.
The decent Recaro 3520H963 economy class seats are very popular due to their navy-blue leather with comfortable headrest cushions. Camair-Co’s new interior will reflect an improved new standard for the customer experience, which places a premium on the overall comfort of flying. The main benefits to Camair-Co are the cost and time savings.
aviationscouts has seen strong growth in the reconfiguration sector in recent years, helping to place surplus seats and other interior furnishings with mid-sized airlines.
“The market for surplus seats is rapidly growing, since there is a requirement for small quantities, quick lead times and competitive pricing in the market,” says aviationscouts CEO Thomas Bulirsch. “With our internet portal www.aviationgate.com we managed to make the market for used passenger seats more transparent, and we simplified the sourcing process for our customers.”
Bulirsch says two hurdles for airlines seeking used seats are identifying the correct ones for their aircraft and obtaining their correct certification. Although there is no back-to-birth traceability requirement for seats, buyers require a non-incident statement, a fresh airworthiness certificate and manuals or technical paperwork that are up to date. “We work closely with the OEMs and the previous operator to provide this for all our seats and interiors.” Burlisch explains. “We are pleased to have been one of the first full-service providers to meet on Camair-Co’s expectations in terms of consulting, product and services from the very beginning. We are impressed with Camair-Co’s professionalism and customer-focused approach and look forward to future projects." Bulirsch continues.
aviationscouts is a full-service provider for surplus aircraft passenger seats and interiors. With over 12,000 passenger seats across 40 different seat models in its virtual inventory and 14,000 part numbers in stock, they offer a diverse range of products and services.
