From 10–12 October, the it-sa Expo&Congress will once again transform Exhibition Centre Nuremberg into the “Home of IT Security”. As well as an extensive display of solutions by the more than 700 exhibitors already registered, Europe’s largest trade fair for IT security also offers a comprehensive supporting programme. In five open forums, IT security providers will provide information on current attack vectors and defensive measures as well as products and solutions. The special keynote at it-sa 2023 will be given by crime and intelligence analyst Mark T. Hofmann. “Hacking the Hackers” will discuss the motivations of cyber criminals and who they are and explain how we can use this knowledge to better protect ourselves from them.
The highlights of the forum programme include “it-sa insights”, a platform for product-neutral presentations, while the popular live hacking sessions are yet another crowd-puller.
Special keynote “Hacking the Hackers”
A notable attraction at this year’s trade fair is the special keynote address in English by Mark T. Hofmann. In “Hacking the Hackers”, the crime and intelligence analyst provides insights into cyber profiling and discusses the future of social engineering and how companies can build up a human firewall. This special keynote will be held on the third day of the fair in the International Forum.

The ATHENE Startup Award UP23@it-sa shines the spotlight on the best performing startup. The expert jury chose five IT security newcomers to compete against one another in Nuremberg. On 11 October, enclaive, KEEQuant, Mondoo, Quantum Optics Jena and ZenAdmin will deliver their pitches on the stage at it-sa. Other award ceremonies include the IBCRM Resilience Award, which recognizes best practice examples of the close links between information and IT security, data protection, business continuity management and other disciplines.
Congress@it-sa including the annual conference of state and local authority IT security representatives
Running alongside the exhibition, Congress@it-sa offers around 50 knowledge sessions and workshops by exhibitors. This year too, the annual conference of state and local authority IT representatives will take place under the umbrella of the it-sa congress programme. The congress topics include live demonstrations of cyber-attacks, legal information on the NIS2 Directive, the European AI Act, and the threat from quantum computing. On the day before the fair, the final of the CAST IT Security Award will take place during the congress. The winners will be presented with their awards at a forum on the first day of the trade fair.
