The European Standard (EN) 9100 forms the framework of a quality management system for the aerospace and defense industry. Quality management comprises seven principles: Customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, a process-orientated approach, improvement, fact-based decision-making and relationship management. The EN 9100 series of standards largely coincides with the legal requirements of the relevant aviation authorities, whose regulations establish the structure and content of a quality management system in detail.
