PASCHAL formwork creates a solid foundation for the „Treetop Walk Alsace“
The walk stretches for 1,050 metres and the tower is 29 metres high. Made of wood, the structure blends perfectly into the natural surroundings. As one of the highest points along the Vosges foothills, the panoramic tower boasts a 360° view of the Rhine plain, the Black Forest, and the Northern Vosges. Learning and discovery stations add to the experience, as does a slide inside the tower.
Treetop walk Alsace is due to open in spring 2021.
The construction company relies on tried and tested Modular/GE universal formwork
In early September 2020, the first sod was turned and work commenced on the ground, and on the building, walk and tower foundations.
The construction company Léon from Rountzenheim-Auenheim was commissioned to carry out the formwork works. To create the concrete foundations for the walk and the twelve-sided panoramic tower and slide, Léon, a long-time PASCHAL customer relied on the tried and tested Modular/GE universal formwork, which is also part of Léon’s own formwork park.
In total, around 250 m² of the Modular/GE universal formwork with a height of 150 cm was used. The additionally required compensation panels and hinged corner posts were rented directly from PASCHAL. The different concrete geometries could be formed easily and systematically thanks to the well-designed range of panels.
With its own formwork rental park, PASCHAL offers its customers the chance to rent any material it requires for a project. Already existing formwork can also be extended with rented one. In addition to the high level of material availability, short delivery times, and favourable transport costs, the rented material meets the GSV (Quality Protection Association for Concrete Formwork) quality criteria guidelines for rented formwork. We also apply stringent in-house quality directives to provide our customers with perfect materials at all times.
Systematic formwork easily done
The walk is over 1,000 m in length and rests on 112 three-legged wooden supports that range in height from 5 to 23 metres. For the safe transfer of loads, 110 cm deep square single foundations in three different dimensions (120 x 120 cm, 130 x 130 cm and 160 x 160 cm) were formed for the columns with the Modular/GE universal formwork. The foundations were additionally anchored in the bedrock using anchoring equipment.
The 150 cm high foundation of the twelve-sided watch tower was also completed faultlessly with the Modular/GE universal formwork. Hinged corner posts were mounted between the Modular panels to create the polygonal ground plan. This made it possible to systematically form oblique-angled corners.
Inside the tower foundation there are also 12 recesses for anchoring the wooden elements.
Modular/GE universal formwork – a true all-rounder
The Modular/GE universal formwork from Paschal completely deserves its name. The formwork system has proven its versatility, adaptability, and flexibility on numerous construction sites worldwide. Whether for foundations, walls, shafts, curvatures, columns or beams: Thanks to the modular construction system, the formwork can be adapted to every ground plan or height. If a crane is not available for the foundation work, the Modular formwork panels can also be easily moved by hand thanks to their low weight.
