Audi receives „Treasury of the Year 2021“ award
Audi’s Treasury department won over the 16-member jury this year with an innovative e-payments project that expanded the company’s business model. The treasury team initiated and managed the "audiPay" project. Together with the payment service provider VW Payment, an app was developed with the aim of establishing a global and product-independent payment and billing platform for digital services and products for the automotive group. In the process, the treasury department had to fulfill a large number of complex financial, tax, legal and country-specific requirements. Using "audiPay," customers can add "Functions on Demand" after purchasing a car and pay for and activate them via the app in just a few minutes. This new offering marks the first time that the Volkswagen Group has entered into a direct B2C customer relationship – a particular challenge for the treasury and the financial systems in place to date. The laudatory speech was given by jury member and last year’s winner Dr. Birka Benecke, Senior Vice President Corporate Treasury at BASF. The award was presented by Markus Dentz, Editor-in-Chief of "DerTreasurer" and "FINANCE" magazine, and Markus Rupprecht, CEO of Traxpay. The award ceremony took place as part of the "Structured FINANCE", which this year was implemented for the first time in a hybrid format (2G+ model) with around 2,000 registered participants – on site in Stuttgart and in the home office or in the office in front of the screens. The organizer of the finance congress is "FINANCE", the sister magazine of "DerTreasurer". In addition to Audi, this year’s shortlist included the commercial vehicle manufacturer Traton, the sporting goods manufacturer Adidas, the technology group Siemens and the automotive supplier Mann + Hummel.
