Substations according to IEC 61850 made easy
At the German "Protection and Control Technology" congress in Leipzig in March 2024, Aucotec AG will present the world’s first full integration of the control technology definition of substations in accordance with IEC 61850 into plant engineering. The latest 2024 version of the Engineering Base (EB) software platform enables automation professionals to develop their standard-compliant data model directly in the platform – without waiting for data transfers, without media disruptions and transmission errors. This completes the digital plant twin in the data-centered system in a unique way. 50 years in just one system "Engineering Base is the first system to achieve this integration and unites the entire life cycle of…

Project Builder automates plant configuration
The new Project Builder for Aucotec’s Engineering Base (EB) software platform can make plant configuration even easier for planning professionals. The tool extends the Advanced Typical Manager (ATM) for EB, which can be used to define cross-discipline, function-oriented modules that make structuring and configuring plants very efficient. Individually configurable, the Project Builder now automatically instructs the ATM on the appropriate selection of typicals. The combination of tools increases the quality of the plant configuration and safeguards know-how. Making selection easier Until now, project planners either had to have in-depth knowledge of typicals and their complex designations themselves or call in experts to select the right ones. The Project Builder, on…

IEC 61850: Planning Substations for the Future
At CIRED 2023 in Rome, the leading international forum for the power distribution industry, Aucotec AG will, for the first time, show how IEC 61850 has been integrated into its Engineering Base (EB) software platform to a large professional audience. This unique, deep integration of the international standard is an essential step towards future security in substation planning and documentation, says Aucotec’s Product Manager Michaela Imbusch. In the run-up to the congress, she points to current, high-pressure planning: “Almost all operators worldwide now have to significantly expand their capacities. These systems live on for decades, so securing the future is essential.” Servers instead of control cabinets IEC 61850 is THE…

35 percent more orders
Aucotec AG, an independent engineering software developer since 1985, closed its last fiscal year, which ended March 31, with a new sales record. New orders received are also higher than ever: 35 % above the previous year’s figures and 26 % above the previous all-time high. "Even though the figures are still preliminary, we assume that our sales record from the 2019/20 pre-Covid year has been exceeded," explains board member Uwe Vogt. Compared to the success achieved at that time, the sales of around 25.5 million euros now achieved represent an increase of 6 %; in relation to the last financial year, the increase is 7 %. "And that’s just…

Change? To be sure!
Aucotec AG, engineering software developer for over 35 years, wants to set new standards in change management. The latest version of the Engineering Base (EB) 2023 cooperation platform, released in December 22, makes it much easier to organize tasks for plant design and operation, as well as to keep track of the state of changes and tasks. Role and task assignment saves time Important: Not only devices, but also attributes can be assigned a state in EB. Since devices often have 150 attributes and more, but by no means all of them are relevant to everyone, EB enables attribute assignment to specific users or roles. Whether automation, process or electrical…
