Six months after the successful release of the first group of Spix’s Macaws (Cyanopsitta spixii), which had been extinct in the wild for over 20 years, the soft release of twelve more parrots of this species began today. The team of the German Association for the Conservation of Threatened Parrots e.V. (ACTP) and the employees of the Brazilian federal authority ICMBio have been preparing this event for weeks with the support of the biologist and expert Tom White.
