The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has opened the nomination process for the IPC Athletes’ Council, ahead of an election that will take place at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The IPC Athletes’ Council is a highly engaged group consisting of 12 current and retired Paralympians, and one from the IOC Athletes’ Commission Representative. Their mission is to be the voice of current, future and retired Paralympic athletes within the Paralympic Movement, in the strategic direction of the IPC, and to support athletes both on and off the field of play. IPC and Infront sign ground-breaking media rights partnership
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has awarded the European media rights to the Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games to Infront, a Wanda Sports Group company, following a public request for information. The agreement, which covers 51 European territories (excluding the UK for 2022 and the UK and France for 2024), also includes a content creation element which will see Infront Productions work alongside Paralympic sport stakeholders in between the Games to maximise the storytelling potential of each event and provide athletes broader exposure. Iranian Para athlete Hamid Eslami suspended for anti-doping rule violation
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has suspended the Iranian Para athlete Hamid Eslami for four years after committing an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV). The Para athletics T11 runner returned an adverse analytical finding for a prohibited substance in a urine sample provided on 17 August 2019 in an out of competition test. The substance was EPO (Erythropoietin), which is included on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2019 Prohibited List under the class S2. The IPC Governing Board concluded four days of online meetings on Tuesday (15 December) making key decisions relating to the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games sport programme and Paris 2024 venue masterplan, as well as receiving updates on preparations for Tokyo 2020. To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN Human Rights) have signed a landmark Co-operation Agreement to collaborate on several initiatives that will further the rights of persons with disabilities. IPC and Commonwealth Games Federation form new partnership

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) have signed a new co-operation agreement that will strengthen Para sport at the Commonwealth Games and across the Commonwealth. As a major global multi-sport event that first featured Para athletes at the 1994 edition, the Commonwealth Games has continued striving for further inclusion. The latest edition at Gold Coast 2018 set a Games record of 300 Para athletes across 38 medal events in seven sports. Costa Rican Para athlete Sherman Guity suspended for anti-doping rule violation
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has banned Costa Rican Para athlete Sherman Guity for two years after he committed an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV). The T64 sprinter returned an adverse analytical finding for a prohibited substance in a urine sample provided on 23 July 2019 in an out of competition test. The substance was Clostebol, which is included on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2019 Prohibited List under the class S1.1A Exogenous Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS). The IPC seek 2021 General Assembly host
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has confirmed that its next General Assembly will take place in December 2021 and launched a global search to find a suitable host city. Taking place between 11-12 December 2021, the IPC General Assembly will bring together up to 500 people representing National Paralympic Committees, International Federations, International Organisations of Sport for the Disabled and Regional Organisations.
