United Through Sports (UTS) World Virtual Youth Festival finalists for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) ‚Inclusive Sports‘ Challenge have been confirmed on 5 November following a review process by an expert panel of seven judges. A total number of 138 applications from across all regions in the world were received for both the under-12 and under-18 categories during the two-week long application period. Youngsters needed to film themselves performing an exercise routine of their choice for 60 seconds maximum. Para marathon athlete suspended for anti-doping rule violation
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has suspended Colombian Para marathon athlete Francisco Sanclemente for 13 months after he committed a non-intentional anti-doping rule violation (ADRV). The athlete returned an adverse analytical finding for a prohibited substance in a urine sample provided during an in-competition test on 29 September 2019 after competing at the 2019 Berlin Marathon in Berlin, Germany. The athlete’s sample contained metabolites of the prohibited substance sibutramine. Sibutramine is included on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List under the class S6b – Specified Stimulants and is prohibited in-competition. IPC publishes updated governance review proposal
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has published an updated version of its governance review proposal "Remaining Fit for Purpose" following 10 months of consultation with IPC members, Para athletes and stakeholders. Originally shared with stakeholders at October 2019’s IPC Conference in Bonn, Germany, "Remaining Fit for Purpose" focusses on nine key principles which aim to ensure the IPC remains a world leading sports organisation. Since publication, the IPC’s Governance Review Working Group, led by IPC Vice President Duane Kale, has conducted extensive stakeholder consultation to gather feedback and update the proposals. IPC supports UTS World Virtual Youth Festival
To get youngsters around the world active during the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and multiple other sport organisations have partnered with United Through Sports to launch the 2020 World Virtual Youth Festival. More than 60 organisations including the IOC, IPC and Special Olympics are supporting the event which will invite youngsters from under 18 years to take part in online qualification events in October. IPC launches requests for information for Beijing 2022 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games media rights in Europe
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has launched a request for information (RFI) process for the sale of the media rights for all territories within Europe* for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games and the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The RFI issued by the IPC provides organisations interested in acquiring the rights with specific guidelines relating to bid submissions. The IPC is asking for responses from interested parties to be submitted by 30 October 2020. The IPC and the International Disability Alliance to sign Co-operation Agreement
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the International Disability Alliance (IDA) are to sign a historic Co-operation Agreement to advance the rights of persons with disabilities and jointly commit to use Para sport as a vehicle to drive the human rights agenda forward. As part of the agreement, the two organisations will work together to develop and implement mutually beneficial strategic inclusive communications campaigns.
