IPC appoint Kristina Molloy as Chief Membership and Impact Officer
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has appointed Canadian Kristina Molloy to the newly created role of Chief Membership and Impact Officer. Molloy joins the IPC on 1 April 2022 having held various leadership roles promoting accessibility and disability inclusion within the Government of Canada and the Paralympic Movement. Most recently she served as policy director to The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, a two–time Paralympian herself and Canada’s Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion. In this role, Kristina was involved in establishing Canada’s first-ever federal accessibility legislation. IPC members approve new constitution at General Assembly
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) General Assembly approved a new constitution on Saturday (11 December) that ensures the governance structures of the Paralympic Movement’s global governing body are up-to-date, world leading and robust enough to thrive in the ever-changing sporting landscape. The approval of the new Constitution with 123 yes votes (96 per cent) from 128 valid votes at the 20th IPC General Assembly – which is being held online – follows an extensive stakeholder consultation and review of the IPC governance structures, which was announced in April 2018. Greater competition opportunities for women and athletes with high support needs at Paris 2024 Paralympics
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will feature a record number of medal events and athlete slots for women, as well as more competition opportunities for athletes with high support needs. Friday’s (19 November) announcement follows the IPC Governing Board’s* approval of the final medal events programme and athlete quotas for the next Paralympic Games following a lengthy consultation exercise with international federations. Jitske Visser elected Chairperson of Athletes‘ Council
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that Jitske Visser has been elected as Chairperson of the IPC Athletes’ Council for the next three years. Visser takes over the role of Chairperson from Canadian Chelsey Gotell, who was elected to the Council in 2017. The 29-year-old, who won gold with the Netherlands Women’s wheelchair basketball team at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, was elected to the IPC Athletes’ Council in September. Canada’s Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, is the latest speaker to be confirmed for the 2021 Inclusion Summit on 2 and 3 December 2021. Minister Qualtrough has served as a Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament since 2015.
