The Electrification of a Construction Machine
Background The European Union has introduced the European Green Deal as a comprehensive strategy to combat climate change. The aim is to decarbonize the EU economy by 2050. As part of the European Climate Law, the EU has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% of 1990 levels by 2030. As in other industrial sectors, this increases the pressure on the construction machinery industry to develop more environmentally friendly machines. Some EU member states are stimulating these efforts through subsidy programs for the acquisition and use of electric construction machinery, among other things. Grants, tax breaks or favorable loans are intended to reduce investment costs and…

State-of-the-art Drilling Technology for the Energy Transition: KLEMM Drilling Rig in Action
Between Kruckel near Dortmund and Dauersberg in Rhineland-Palatinate, the German transmission system operator Amprion is currently constructing a new 380-kilovolt overhead line to replace the existing 220-kilovolt connection. Spanning 126 kilometers, this expansion aims not only to increase transmission capacity and achieve a more stable and reliable power supply, but also to secure long-term energy supply in western and southern Germany. Challenges and Solutions Himmel und Papesch Bauunternehmung GmbH, based in Bebra, is currently installing the anchors for the new power poles in the Attendorn area. Himmel and Papesch are relying on the KLEMM KR 806-3GS universal and anchor drilling rig to carry out the work. Using a ring drill…

KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH celebrates double anniversary
This year, KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH is celebrating two anniversaries: Over the past 25 years, the company has been the specialist within the BAUER Group for the development and manufacture of anchor drilling rigs and accessories. And what’s more, the company’s history goes back exactly 60 years. How it all started In order to carry out drilling and blasting work to extract stone material for dam construction, Guenter Klemm founded KLEMM Bohrtechnik GmbH in 1963. During the early years, the company focused on blast hole drilling in quarries and road construction as well as injection drilling for sealing dams. Soon the company began to manufacture individual pieces of drilling equipment, such…

KLEMM drilling rigs – Innovations and a look to the future
“The constant drive to improve and innovate is at the core of our mission to increase the efficiency and reliability of our drilling rigs” Martin Bonzel (Sales Director) and Dr. Carl Hagemeyer (Managing Director) of KLEMM Bohrtechnik offer a glimpse into present innovations and further developments that might very well be tomorrow´s industry standard. The task of improving a standardized machine part, such as a clamping and breaking unit, has been one such internal project carried out over the last one and a half years. The clamping and breaking unit which is one of the most highly stressed machine elements on the drill rig fulfills numerous tasks within the drilling…

Brennerstraße – Verkehrsentlastung in Sicht

Brenner Road – traffic relief in sight
An 8 km long Brixen-Vahrn bypass is being built to relieve the heavily frequented Brenner Road and to reduce through traffic in the villages. The final 1.5 km section of the bypass between the Brixen Nord junction and Vahrn is currently under construction. In addition to the Brenner Motorway traffic, an average of 10,000 to 15,000 vehicles use the Brenner road near Vahrn every day. The new bypass will divert most of this through traffic and the improved traffic situation will lead to a higher quality of life in the region. On the last stretch of the Vahrn bypass a KLEMM KR 801-3GK anchor drilling rig is being used to…

Turnkey Building Site
BAUER Macchine and KLEMM Bohrtechnik have enjoyed a successful partnership for many years, offering a one-stop service to Italian foundation engineering customers. Not only do KLEMM and BAUER Macchine offer drilling rigs for sale and for rent, but they also provide experienced specialists to be on hand for support whilst the work is being carried out, offering services such as on-site training. A Construction Site with a Sea View A five-story building is to be erected near the beach at Jesolo by the construction company Rodighiero Claudio & C. S.r.l. “The customer doesn’t normally drill the anchors himself”, explains Andrea Ruggero, Area Sales Manager of BAUER Macchine Italia, “in this…

Danger from the Deep
Intensive mining and the Second World War have left clear traces throughout the Ruhr Region. Today, however, these are no longer visible in the vast majority of cases – rather, they are hidden underground. Reports of the discovery of unexploded ordnance and sinkholes are commonplace between the Rhine and Ruhr rivers, and the effects of large-scale subsidence are rarely recognizable at first sight. For example, areas of Essen’s city center are about 30 meters deeper today than they were before intensive coal mining began. In more than 700 years of mining, – including all small mines – there were about 1,300 mines- – in the Ruhr area. There were around…
