Krones opens another R&D center for ideas of the future
Just a few years ago, Krones’ subsidiary Steinecker opened a technology center in Freising where customers can create and test recipes for beer and plant-based drinks. Now, the group is setting another important milestone in the evolution of beverages and processes. In early May, at the company’s headquarters in Neutraubling, a fully-equipped R&D lab was officially inaugurated and dubbed the “Process Technology Center”. The new Process Technology Center is designed to support Krones customers in their product development processes and meet the flavour demands of the global markets. Powerful water treatment system with new technology
The Saudi-Arabian drinking-water producer Makkah Water Company has, for now, finished updating and expanding capacity at its main plant in Jeddah. The new, high-performance water treatment system from Krones passed final acceptance testing in October 2022. Before that, acceptance testing on two new high-speed filling lines was completed in spring of 2022. Makkah Water Company began operations and production in 1975. The main plant in Jeddah now has seven complete lines from Krones up and running. Der saudi-arabische Trinkwasser-Produzent Makkah Water hat die Modernisierung und Kapazitätserhöhung in seinem Stammwerk in Dschidda vorerst abgeschlossen. Die neue, leistungsstarke Wasseraufbereitungsanlage von Krones konnte im Oktober 2022 erfolgreich abgenommen werden. Zuvor fand bereits im Frühjahr 2022 die Abnahme von zwei neuen Hochleistungs-Abfüllanlagen statt. Krones made a very good start to the 2023 financial year
Customer demand remained very strong in the first quarter of 2023. The order intake of €1,513.1 million was only 2.6% below the very high level in the first quarter of 2022 (€1,553.8 million), but significantly higher than in the preceding quarter (Q4 2022: €1,183.1 million). Krones improved revenue by 21.4% to €1,198.8 million. Despite challenging conditions, Krones significantly increased profitability in the reporting period. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) went up 32.1% to €114.9 million. The EBITDA margin improved to 9.6% (previous year: 8.8%). Krones is among the big winners of this year’s 9th annual German Stevie Awards. The company will receive four of the coveted trophies at the October award ceremony: two in Gold and one each in Silver and Bronze. Standard PETG sleeve labels remain a major challenge for recycling systems because it is impossible to separate them dependably from the crystallised PET that bottles are made of. This may reduce a recycling system’s efficiency. For the circular economy, in turn, this can prevent valuable resources from being used to optimum effect.
