2020 FIA Formula One Eifel Grand Prix – Practice – Friday
Much ado about nothing, the Bard would have written – had he been watching Friday practice for the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix. All the expectations, the words printed, the cameras pointed at our garage: so much had been said and written about today, with the return to an historical Formula One venue and new faces in the cockpits – so much destined to be in vain. At the end of the day, this Friday will be remembered for its weather: it wasn’t a Tempest, but the foggy conditions, together with the nearly incessant rain that battered the Eifel region from the morning, caused both practice sessions to be cancelled, much…

2020 Eifel Grand Prix: Preview
The modern Nürburgring, the GP-Strecke, may be a tricky venue to race, but its challenge pales in comparison to that of the legendary Nordschleife – the 20km-plus, up-to-160-turn monster of a circuit that used to be the home of the German Grand Prix. That layout, used (in various iterations) until 1976, rightfully earned the moniker “the Green Hell” due to the sheer technical, physical and mental challenge it presented drivers with: even at the (more or less so) sedate speeds of a road car driven when the old track is open, it is easy to imagine the contrasting feelings of intimidation and exhilaration that a lap around here would have…

Mick Schumacher to make FP1 debut in Germany
. Mick Schumacher will make his debut in an official Formula One race weekend practice session when he will take the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN C39 at next month’s German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. The 21-year-old, who is a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA), is currently leading the FIA Formula 2 championship standings, having claimed a famous win in Monza earlier this month before a triumph in last week’s Sochi feature race, and has previous experience of Formula One machinery, having tested for both our team and Ferrari in 2019. Schumacher will step in Antonio Giovinazzi’s car for the session, before the Italian resumes driving…

2020 FIA Formula One Italian Grand Prix – Race – Sunday
Excitement. Disappointment. Hope. Heartbreak. If this reads like a list of very contrasting emotions, it’s because it is: the Italian Grand Prix was a rollercoaster, pitching great highs and deep troughs that left us clutching the armrests of our chairs and slumping in despair in alternating fashion. The race had started really well for the team, another good launch promoting Kimi and Antonio to the low teen positions, fighting ahead of the Ferraris and chasing the top ten closely. It had had a sudden twist just as the pit stop window was opening, a Safety Car caused by Magnussen’s stricken car shuffling the pack and bringing our cars to…

Rush hour madness
. 2020 FIA Formula One Italian Grand Prix – Qualifying – Saturday Weather: FP3: sunny 25.7-27.2°C air, 37-41.5°C track; Q: sunny, 28.8-29.4°C air, 45.1-44.4°C track Drivers, team principals, pundits and fans from home: everyone had predicted a messy conclusion to each of today’s qualifying segments: and while the farcical events of last year’s grid shootout were not repeated in their full extent this time around, the final moments of Q1 produced scenes reminiscent more of Milan’s ring road, the Tangenziale, at rush hour than of the famous Temple of Speed. Cars jostled for position, ducking and diving trying to make the most of their rivals’ tow; alternative lines were tried,…

Fast corners under the trees‘ shade
2020 FIA Formula One Italian Grand Prix – Practice – Friday Weather: FP1: sunny, 23.6-25.6°C air, 32-38.4°C track; FP2: sunny, 26.7-29°C air, 44.4-37.5°C track The first day of on-track action in Monza came and went without a hitch, with plenty of running producing reams of data for the team’s engineers. On a gloriously sunny and warm day, Kimi and Antonio sped around the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for more than 117 laps, zipping past empty grandstands and disappearing into the shade of the Parco’s trees. A productive day with good mileage is what every team wants on a Friday: with all boxes ticked on our testing programme and all set-up…

FIA Formula One Magyar Nagydíj 2020 – Race – Sunday
Rain, thunder and lightning: all these things that could have happened this afternoon… didn’t. In the end, the Hungarian Grand Prix was a slightly more sedate affair than what could have been expected just a few hours before the start, when the skies had opened. With a race track rapidly drying, and staying so, the odds were always going to be stacked against us: starting in P19 and P20, no amount of good pace would have been enough to salvage a good result without a hefty dose of mayhem. The predicted chaos did not materialise and, despite a good team performance, P16 for Kimi and P17 for Antonio was all…

Mountains to climb
Weather: FP3: overcast 17.1-18.4°C air, 23.6-28.4°C track; Q: overcast, 18.7-18.8°C air, 27.8-25.7°C track There are some days in which everything that could go against you, does. These days are the embodiment of Murphy’s Law, occasions in which the world is out to get you, no matter what you do. Today was one of those days. Lining up on the last row of the grid is never ideal; to do so in Hungary, even more so. It is a result that cannot make us happy, of course: but it is also one that will not sap our motivation to get back to the places where we belong. On these days, it’s…
