SES and the University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) announced today the creation of a joint lab that will explore the benefits of high-throughput satellite systems in the areas of next-generation networks, including quantum communications and cybersecurity. Sirius TV Partners with SES to Broadcast TV Channels across Malaysia
Sirius TV, a brand of Smart Digital International Sdn Bhd – the 2nd DTH (Direct-to-Home) operator in Malaysia – has signed a multi-year contract with SES, the leading global content connectivity solutions provider, to deliver a new bouquet of satellite TV channels across Malaysia. The Sirius Basic subscription package launched last Friday with 13 initial channels, five of which are broadcast in HD. CGTN Channels to Switch to HD in SES and Globecast Renewal Agreement
Audiences across Europe are now able to watch China Global Television Network (CGTN) channels in high-definition (HD) due to a new capacity agreement, SES announced today. Globecast, the global solutions provider for media, has extended its partnership with SES to deliver three CGTN channels in HD using Globecast’s media services and SES’s satellites at 19.2 degrees East. These channels continue to be available in SD quality. Under the multi-year agreement, Globecast will lease additional capacity on SES’s prime neighbourhood to deliver CGTN News, CGTN Documentary and CGTN French, and will manage the uplinking and contribution services for these channels. Hughes and SES Demonstrate First Multi-Orbit SATCOM for Remotely Piloted Aircraft
Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) and SES today announced the successful first demonstration of a new multi-orbit satellite communications (SATCOM) capability for remotely piloted aircraft. Conducted for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), the demonstration paired Hughes HM series software-defined modems and Resource Management System (RMS) with SES’s satellites that operate in geosynchronous (GEO) and medium earth (MEO) orbits. SES-17 has completed its performance tests at the Thales Alenia Space facility in Cannes, France and is being prepared for shipment to Arianespace’s Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana on 22 September 2021. The spacecraft is scheduled to be launched by Arianespace, using an Ariane 5 vehicle on 22 October 2021, SES announced today. SES Launches New HD+ ToGo Streaming App in Germany
SES’s German HD media platform subscribers will now be able to access their favourite channels on their mobile devices with the launch of a new streaming app, HD+ ToGo. As an extension of SES’s premium high-definition (HD) satellite television HD+ service, the new mobile service will give users full streaming access to over 50 HD channels in the palm of their hands, and will be available on 29 September, SES announced.
