The TALQ Family Continues to Grow

The TALQ Consortium, which developed the Smart City Protocol, a global interface standard for smart city device networks, passes the magic number of 50 member companies. The main reason for companies to join the consortium is to integrate the protocol into their smart city solutions and apply for certification. In parallel the number of TALQ partners, like cities and consultants, is also growing, which confirms that the Smart City Protocol’s reach is expanding further globally. More and more companies from continents and countries around the world are deciding to become TALQ members. They can choose between two different membership levels: Regular or Associate members. Both options allow manufacturers to access…

Smart City Protocol Standard Continues its Expansion and adds Waste Management

The TALQ Consortium, which developed the Smart City Protocol, a global interface standard for managing heterogeneous smart city device networks, continues to enhance its software protocol. With the release of the Specification Version 2.3.0 several new functions have been added. It’s significant that most of the new requests address smart city applications other than street lighting. All protocol updates aim to improve the interoperability of different systems and so to ease investment decisions for cities and other operators. To respond best to all new requirements of users and system manufacturers, the Smart City Protocol is regularly reviewed and updated. TALQ members and partners, such as cities and consultants, can propose…

TALQ Certification, the key to interoperable smart city systems

The TALQ Consortium, which developed the global interface standard for managing heterogeneous smart city device networks, stimulates collaboration between different vendors and fosters competition at the same time. The main goal of the Consortium is to ease investment decisions for cities and public entities, which plan to invest in smart city applications. The Smart City Protocol and its strict certification procedures assure interoperability among products from different vendors by agreeing on a common ‘language’. At the same time the split in ‘mandatory’, ‘optional’ and ‘vendor-specific’ features gives manufacturers the freedom to clearly differentiate their solutions. Since September 2020 a capability list for every certified product will be available on the…

More than 20 products certified as TALQ-compliant

The TALQ Consortium, which has developed a global interface standard for managing heterogeneous smart city device networks, continues to award further products TALQ Certification, after passing strict test procedures. The number of certified TALQ-compliant and interoperable products has climbed to 22 products from 17 companies from a variety of countries and continents. The only reliable way to confirm official certification remains the consortium’s website. The main goal of the Consortium is to ease investment decisions for cities and to foster competition among different solution providers. This is achieved through a standardized interface to connect and control heterogeneous smart city applications from different hardware and software vendors. Integrating the Smart City…
