Laufzeit: 25.11.-10.12.2023 Eröffnung: 24.11.2023, 18-22 Uhr Moltkerei Werkstatt Köln Schauinsland, Infermental und Zapp Magazine – so hießen die drei diskursprägenden Videomagazine der 1980er und 1990er Jahre. Sie sind der Ausgangspunkt von Video Digest, einem von Videonale und IMAI – Inter Media Art Institute initiierten Ausstellungs- und Rechercheprojekt in der Moltkerei Werkstatt, Köln. Eine Reihe dialogisch präsentierter aktueller Arbeiten beziehen sich dabei auf diese Videomagazine und untersuchen das widerständige Potential von Bewegtbild in unterschiedlichen Kommunikationskanälen aus gegenwärtiger Perspektive. Fifthteen composers and sound designers are nominated for the EUROPEAN TALENT AWARD. The winners will be announced at the festival awards ceremony on June 23 at the Comedia Theater. The EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION offers a platform especially for young talents. The participants had the task to either compose the film music or to create the sound design for the short film "Reunify" (directed by Mette Tange & Peter Smith) or to re-score the film in a team of composer and sound designer. Seven composers are nominated for the PEER RABEN MUSIC AWARD. The winner will be announced at the festive awards ceremony on June 23 at the COMEDIA Theater. The PEER RABEN MUSIC AWARD honors the Best Original Music in a Short Film. The winner receives a prize money of 1,500 euros. The Lifetime Achievement Award of the twentieth SoundTrack_Cologne 2023 goes to Mychael Danna. At the award ceremony on Friday, 23 June, the WDR Funkhausorchester Köln will play film scores by Mychael Danna. Danna will not only travel to Cologne to receive the award, but will also present his work in a talk with film composer Mirjam Skal on Thursday, 22 June. Danna is an Academy Award-winning film composer who has composed over 80 film scores and is recognized for his blending of non-western traditions with orchestral and electronic music.
